Diabetic retinopathy is a condition in which the small blood vessels in the retina -LRB- the light sensitive inner layer of the eye -RRB- leak , causingdamage toimportant tissues at thebackof the eyes with which one sees . आंखों में एक आंतरिक परत होती है जिसे हम दृष्टि पटल ( रेटिना ) कहते हैं.यह प्रकाश के लिए अति सूक्ष्मग्राही होती है.डाZयबिटिक रेटिनोपेथी नामक स्थिति में रेटिना में उपस्थित छोटी रक़्तवाहिनियों से रक़्त का रिसाव होना शुरू हो जाता है जिस कारण दृष्टि के लिए जिम्मेदार सूक्ष्मग्राही ऊतकों पर कुप्रभाव पड़ता है .
